Having grown up along the East coast, I moved to Minnesota after college to attend Luther Northwestern Seminary (St. Paul) where I obtained my Master of Divinity degree.
I was a pastor in northwestern Wisconsin and the suburban Twin Cities. After serving for over 20 years, I decided to pursue a counseling career.
I attended Argosy University / MN School of Professional Psychology, Twin Cities, where I graduated with my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (2006). I opened my private practice in Burnsville, Inspiring Change LLC.
Unlike therapists who work for large, medically-based clinics, I work directly with every client and set my own schedule. Managing my own practice inspires me, and gives me the time to continually learn and grow.
It's my goal to provide each client unique and customized psychotherapy services, care that fits each person and focuses on what each client would like to achieve. I believe a more personal approach to therapy helps my clients heal and grow more quickly and fully.

I write regularly for the "Spiritual Reflections" column in the Savage Pacer (MN), my blog "Thinking Outloud" (lsblmft.blogspot.com), and am a Family Therapy Topic Expert for the therapy website GoodTherapy.org (http://www.goodtherapy.org/family-systems-therapy.html). I have also supervised graduate MFT student interns in my practice.
As a volunteer, I have served on 3 ELCASynod Candidacy Committees over 12 years, elected twice as committee Chairperson; been a member of the Board of North Central Ministry Development Center (NCMDC) in New Brighton, Minnesota for six years (ncmdc.org), and served five years on the Board of the Superior Treatment Center (formerly The Recovery Center), Superior, Wisconsin, an out-patient chemical dependency treatment center.
My husband and I have two teenage children.
"Are you a 'Christian' therapist?"
I am a person of faith. But you don't have to be. I always accept each client where they are. If you want to talk about your faith as a personal resource, I'm all ears. If you don't, that's fine, too. I don't do therapy mixed in with Bible verses and prayer as some do who call themselves Christian therapists. But I can.
I'm a 'bilingual' therapist; I have graduate degrees and years of experience in both theology and psychology. Whatever way you want to talk about your understanding of the world, I can join in.
